Cooperstown Cookie Co. on Cooperstown’s Main Street

Some Baseball Cookie News for you…

Straws & Sweets, a candy and gift retailer on Cooperstown’s Main Street, now offers an expanded line of baseball gifts and treats from the Cooperstown Cookie Company. The store recently moved to a larger location at 81 Main Street, Cooperstown. Gail McManus, owner of Straws & Sweets, said that the larger store enabled her to feature more Cooperstown Cookie Company products. “I thought the added exposure would be good for both of us,” says McManus. “Sales are going very well, we’re excited.”

Straws & Sweets also can take custom orders of Cooperstown Cookie Company gift towers. “We can get them here within a day, sometimes the same day,” says McManus.

“We are pleased to have a permanent Main Street presence and to continue to work with Straws & Sweets,” says Cooperstown Cookie Company founder and president Pati Drumm Grady. “The new store is bright and spacious and it really showcases Cooperstown Cookie Company gifts, including our MLB™ line.

Straws and Sweets is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 8 pm, and Sundays 9:00 am to 4 pm.

Cooperstown Cookie Company products are available at Straws & Sweets, the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Nordstroms, Whole Foods and other retailers throughout the US. Cooperstown Cookie Company baseball cookies also can be ordered online at www.CooperstownCookie.com, or by phone, 888/269-7315.

Serving Up Success

In these hard economic times, it’s refreshing to hear a small business success story. Of course, it’s even better when the success being discussed is your own!

The Cooperstown Cookie Company is now featured in a profile on our county’s economic development web site. I was able to launch the company with the help of Otsego County’s Micro Enterprise Revolving Loan Fund. This is one of the tools Otsego County Economic Development uses to build a better regional economy here in Central New York State.

We’re grateful for that initial loan which helped us achieve success in the local, regional and national level. In case you’re new to my blog, the Cooperstown Cookie Company has a new agreement with Major League Baseball, and can now sell our baseball treats emblazoned with customers’ favorite MLB team names and logos. Never one to rest on our laurels, we at the Cooperstown Cookie Company are working even harder to delight our customers, whether it’s a young fan celebrating a birthday with our Ballpark Bunt Boxes, or a major retailer signing on to carrying our products nationwide.

Cooperstown Ready to Welcome Rickey Henderson and Jim Rice

I spoke with reporter Denise Richardson yesterday about the selection of Rickey Henderson, MLB’s career leader in stolen bases and runs, and Jim Rice, the famed Boston Red Sox outfielder, as 2009 National Baseball Hall of Fame inductees.

I told her that their election is fabulous news for Cooperstown. They are very deserving players and their following will attract a lot of fans to Cooperstown.

For us at the Cooperstown Cookie Company, we are ready for the increased demand for our MLB-licensed baseball cookie gifts, especially products with Red Sox logos.

You can read Denise’s full article on the Daily Star site. Get more details on the newest Hall of Famers, and on travel packages for Induction Weekend on the Baseball Hall of Fame web site.

Christmas in Cooperstown

Christmas in Cooperstown

Christmas in Cooperstown, with baseball style

Saturday, December 13 is our village’s celebration, A Cooperstown Christmas. This annual event features musical performances, a Bed & Breakfast and Inn tour, great holiday shopping, and a  Living Nativity. Kids will love to visit Santa in his Victorian cottage, on the corner of Main Street and Pioneer Street.

We are looking forward to being a part of the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Holiday Celebration on Saturday, December 13. At 4 pm, the Pathfinder Village Bell Choir will perform at the Hall. It’s a lovely way to mark this special season. The Hall of Fame is offering free admission that day when you bring a donation of two canned goods for local food banks. This popular event also features complimentary refreshments, including baseball cookies from the Cooperstown Cookie Company for all to enjoy!

PS As you stroll through Cooperstown, look for our yummy baseball cookies, packaged and ready for giving, at retailers along Main Street, including the National Baseball Hall of Fame gift shop. For a list of retailers who carry Cooperstown Cookie Company baseball cookies and gifts, visit Cooperstown Cookie Company.  You can also check out our gifts for baseball fans.

There’s a New Game in Town…

The National Baseball Hall of Fame has announced that it will host the Hall of Fame Classic. A great idea, it’s sure to be a wonderful weekend in Cooperstown, for visitors and residents alike. Details are being worked out to make this a spectacular way to celebrate Father’s Day and the first day of Summer!

According to AP

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (AP) — Baseball’s legends and old-timers will play in a new Hall of Fame Classic game beginning in 2009.

The inaugural Hall of Fame Classic will be held on Father’s Day, June 21. The game replaces the Hall of Fame game, which was discontinued this year after 68 years.

The new game was announced Monday by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association.

Officials say the inaugural Hall of Fame Classic will feature four Hall of Famers and more than 20 other retired major leaguers. Along with the exhibition game, there will be a weekend of activities, including a hitting contest and autograph sessions.

Enjoy the taste of Cooperstown anytime with baseball cookies and gifts from the Cooperstown Cookie Company.

World Series Gala at the Baseball Hall of Fame

Enjoy Classic Baseball Shortbread Cookies at the World Series Gala

Plan now to attend the wonderful World Series Gala at the National Baseball Hall of Fame, on Saturday, October 25 at 7:30 pm. This family event features a live broadcast of Game 3 of the Series, which will be played in the National League Champ’s park. According to the Hall of Fame, the fun-filled evening will feature refreshments, trivia, raffles, prizes and more as fans watch the game from the Hall of Fame on big screens in either the Grandstand Theater or the Plaque Gallery.

The Gala is where I launched the Cooperstown Cookie Company in 2004. I still remember people’s first reaction to our baseball cookies that night. “Wow!” “Little Baseballs, and they taste great too!” “Can I have some more? And some more?” We’ve been earning similar kudos every day since then. I never get tired of introducing new people to our great-tasting baseball cookies.

We’ve been a part of the World Series Gala and the All-Star Gala ever since. They are great events at the home of baseball. If you’re coming, be sure to come by the Cooperstown Cookie Company table. It would be great to meet you in person! We’ll have samples of our baseball treats, and we’ll be giving away to baseball cookie towers. Also on hand will be the winner of our first-ever Ultimate Cooperstown Baseball Weekend. Fun!

Best,

Pati
